I offer three and four day workshops in the conversion of non-operable electric kilns into wood/soda kilns. This is a viable technique for people who do not have the space, the desire, or the budget for a more complex wood kiln.
This process was featured in "Ceramics Monthly" magazine and also appears as a chapter in a new book entitled, Electric Firing, in the "Ceramic Arts Handbook Series".

The number of participants depends on the number of old kilns to be converted.
My usual rule of thumb is 6 students per kiln. This is based on a 7 cubic foot kiln.
Please see the images at right for photos from past workshops and contact me should your group have an interest in this activity.
